Glenfarclas 40 year old single malt whisky has a very rich and complex nose. With initial hints of leather, cedar wood, old cigar boxes and drinking cocoa all of which are closely followed by waves of sweet sherry, chocolate orange peel and butterscotch.
Also present are hints of thick dark molasses and just a light dusting of black peppercorns.
The palate is packed full of a chocolate richness with notes of chocolate covered raisins, ripe figs, fresh dates, oranges, maraschino cherries, mixed spice and strong espresso coffee.
The finish has highly concentrated waves of mochaccino and gingerbread along with deep leathery notes that simply cling on right to the end.
