Tomatin has been around since 1897. For the palate trained in single malt whisky, it may not have the same complex and defined flavour as its counterparts. However, for those who find single malt whiskies too powerful for their senses, this brand’s flavour profile characterized as sweet and peppered may prove to be a worthy and welcome alternative.
Tomatin miniatures for sampling? Tomatin whiskey miniatures are the way to go if you just want a taste of this whisky or, remain undecided on what to do with it. Aged in ex-Bourbon and ex-Spanish Sherry casks, Tomatin small bottles leave the palate with a discernible blend of pears and ripe apples with the undeniable tinge of nuts. Expect the Tomatin 5cl bottles to leave a long, oily finish to each sip which is unlike the usual drying and burning peak delivered by other, more custom-inclined scotch whiskies. Therefore, Tomatin whisky is best taken undiluted and simply on the rocks so as to refrain from further weakening its flavour profile.
Nevertheless, Tomatin also makes a good base for simple cocktails. To add even more freshness to its light, refreshing blend, simply add ginger to make ginger scotch, maple syrup to make Old Fashioned Maple cocktail or, lemonade for a zesty cocktail treat.
