The first known use of Absinthe can be traced back to mid 1800's in the country of Switzerland where the drink was originally created for medicinal purposes. The recipe found its way to France and Czech Republic and gained huge popularity in the Bohemian society and later amongst the common people. The liquid was affectionately called 'Green Fairy' and was drunk as an aperitif before supper.
