Prosecco Wine  is made from Glera grapes grown in the north-east portion, almost to the tip of Italy. The vineyards in this region boast of a long history of wine making that can be traced back to the 1800s. The unique terrain and climate prevalent in the Province of Treviso-Veneto give the bubbly Prosecco its uniquely brut taste with hints of citrusy and fruity flavors of grapes aged using fermentation.

 It is generally bubblier than beer but keeps bubbling for a shorter period when compared to champagne. Diet watchers, however, can forego the bubbles for a lesser amount of calories per glass. One glass of Prosecco contains 120 calories versus 130 calories in a glass of champagne. If you end up sipping an entire bottle, you can expect to put on a less of 60 Prosecco calories than if you had champagne.

What foods go with prosecco? The brut taste and dry finish of a Prosecco palate is intended to clean the mouth and tongue of taste which makes it an ideal apertif just as well as it is a great companion to almost any simple, straightforward dish.  Perhaps you’re cooking for a lovely date night, hosting a tight party with your besties or, just want to flip your kitchen for a satisfying solo treat? Below are two easy and tasty pasta recipes that are guaranteed to go well with your elegant bottle of Prosecco.


Pairing 1: Shrimp in Cherry Tomato Spaghetti with Prosecco Spumante Brut



Ingredients (serving: 2)

 Olive Oil

Garlic, minced

Onions, minced

Sea salt


1/2 kg Shrimps, shelled and deveined

1 cup Sweet cherry tomatoes, blanched and cut into small pieces

Basil, chopped finely

Juice of 1 slice of lemon

zest of lemon

200 g of Spaghetti, cooked, drained and cooled


To cook:

  1. Heat pan.
  2. Cover the surface of the pan with olive oil.
  3. Add garlic and onions. Sweat.
  4. Add a pinch of sea salt and pepper.
  5. Saute shrimps. Constantly roll on the pan until cooked.
  6. Add the cherry tomatoes. Bring to a boil.
  7. Top with basil.


Serve with pasta. Squeeze slice of lemon on top. Add zest of lemon. Garnish with basil. with a tall glass of chilled Prosecco Spumante Brut. Notice how the sweetness of the cherry tomatoes and zing of lemon complement the brut, that is, low sugar taste of the wine. Alcohol content: 11% vol.


Pairing 2: Penne and Prosciutto Linguine with Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG



Ingredients (serving: 2)

Olive Oil

Dried Oregano

Garlic, minced

Sea Salt


6 oz. smoked Prosciutto (soft at room temperature)

1/4 kg chicken breast (without skin)

Broccoli, chopped

1/2 cup fresh milk

1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese

 200 g of Linguine, cooked, drained and cooled

   To cook:

  1. Heat pan.
  2. Cover the surface of the pan with olive oil.
  3. Add garlic. Sweat.
  4. Add a pinch of sea salt and pepper.
  5. Cook chicken breast. Take care not to toast the meat.
  6. Add the broccoli.
  7. Add chicken stock. Bring to a boil.
  8. Add milk and Parmesan cheese.


Arrange pasta on a plate. Top with the pasta sauce. Cut strips of Prosciutto and place on top of the pasta. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve with Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG. This Prosecco drink contrasts with the saltiness of the Prosciutto as it delivers a fruity taste.
