Irish whiskey is produced in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, its distilleries are strictly controlled and must adhere to the Irish Whiskey Act of 1980.
There are several types of whiskey currently distilled in Ireland of which most whiskies are distilled three times rather that twice for a Scotch whisky.
Irish whiskies include Single Malt Whiskey, Single Grain Whiskey and Blended Whiskey.
